Podcasts I've been loving in 2020

I love podcasts because of the convenience and the variety. There's so much you can listen to with endless categories and you can always listen while you're driving, while doing chores, while cooking... Ever since I got Spotify last year I understand the hype around them. Based off my year of checking out different types of podcasts, here are my few recommendations that I listen to the most, with a specific episode that I suggest. Not ranked in any specific order.

You know those girls you talk to after a break up and you feel infinitely better just from laughing and talking about everything super raunchy and ridiculous. This pod feels just like that. I had to mention it first because it was the first podcast I really became a fan of. Alex and her co-host mainly discuss relationships, sex, stories from their lives or from listeners, and lots of tips and tricks and I live for Questions of the week.

There was some drama earlier this year surrounding the podcast but Alex has been continuing the pod great on her own, and bringing guests on which has been super fun. If you give this pod a listen and think that what they're saying is very controversial, just remember that it's a comedy podcast and it doesn't mean that you have to take everything super seriously. I love this podcast because I just feel empowered listening to women being women, encouraging other women.

Suggested episode: if you want the full effect of the pod the start at the beginning but a favourite episode of mine that shook the world is 87- PSA He Doesn't Like You

                                                        2

If you're a big Office fan then this one is a no-brainer. Angela and Jenna (Angela and Pam from the Office) discuss episodes from the show and share background information including writer's bits, comments from costars, information on how props had been acquired, and tidbits of how certain scenes came to be. I've watched the show 3 times through so far so it's fun to hear about how episodes were made and hearing the perspectives of those who were a part of the show. If you've never watched the show, this pod could be fun to listen to while you watch just to gain even more appreciation for the little things.

Suggested episode: Casino Night w/ John Krasinski but any episode with guests is so much fun

I'm a huge psychology nerd so this podcast gives me my daily dose of knowledge, delivered in concise episodes. The host Jade Wu discusses an array of topics from "How to know if you've met the one" to "How to trust people again: 8 steps", and so much more. I love the motto of the podcast:"Meet life's challenges with evidence-based research, a sympathetic ear, and zero judgment.".

Suggested episode: 285 - Which of These Four Attachment Styles Is Yours?

I'm grouping these together since I use them for the same purpose. I generally have a tough time falling asleep and it takes me a minimum of an hour on most nights. What I found helps me fall asleep is listening to a calming podcast as I go to bed, because it lulls me to sleep without keeping me too interested as music does. I've listened to Nothing Much Happens for almost a year now and it almost never fails to get me asleep but LeVar Burton Reads is a recent discovery that I love because he reads some really interesting stories but I still feel very calmed. If you have trouble falling asleep or if you just want to try and listen to something calming that isn't music, give these a shot.

Suggested episode: No specific episode, they're all really good
