Perfume for When Your Mother is Allergic to Perfume

If you have the type of mom that gets headaches from perfumes you wear, I have a few recommendations of how not to bother your mom as much, including methods as well as specific perfumes.

1. Buy mini bottles of perfumes

I always purchase small bottles of perfumes; they're less expensive and you can use them up without them expiring as quickly. I mainly love that I can pack them in my bag so I can spray my perfume once I'm outside the house. This way I don't bother anyone with the scent but I can still use the perfume I want to wear for the day.

2. Use atomizers to make any perfume into a mini

I do have one full sized perfume, DKNY - My NY, and it is quite a strong scent so I transfer it to an atomizer I got from Amazon so I can use the method I mentioned above.

3. Rinsing some perfume off

My DKNY perfume is a nice berry scent to me after it's been worn for a while, but I do find that it smells overwhelming and even triggers my allergies when I first spray it. So I'll spray the perfume onto my wrists and pat on my neck, as I always do, and then I'll give my wrists a quick rinse since it's the strongest source of the scent. I find that with a scent this strong, rinsing it off is enough for the scent to remain but not be too intense.

4. Perfumes I recommend

When I was younger I really loved Bath and Body Works body sprays, as I'm sure we all did, but as I got older I eventually learned that higher quality perfumes have better ingredients that won't be as irritating.

One scent my mom actually really likes is Juliette Has A Gun - Not A Perfume. I know this because she took my bottle from my collection and used it as a room spray in my brother's room and she told me it smelled really good. I love this because it really doesn't smell like a perfume, as the name suggests. It does smell different on different people, and on me it smells quite woody and musky. I even turned my sister onto this scent and she has her own bottle as well.

Versace - Bright Crystal is described as pomegranate, yuzu, and frosted accord, and although I never know how to pick out specific notes in perfumes, I do find that this scent is the tiniest bit floral while mostly being fruity and definitely not overwhelming. This particular scent, I can apply straight onto my wrists and neck without feeling like I smell too heavy.
